Description
Scarce Vietnam War era “Home of the Brave Original Bowie Knife” Fighting/Hunting Bowie manufactured for the long-gone Florida-based BILLS MILITARY STORES in Solingen, Germany in the 1960th. Bills Military Stores were based in Jacksonville, Florida during the Vietnam War. This Bowie was certainly catered to the military-oriented crowd: nickel-silver inlay features a Bowie-fighting scene; the blade is etched with the proud eagle clenching HOME OF THE BRAVE banner in its talons. This is a solid full-tang construction knife with a genuine sambar stag handle scales, nickel-silver S-guard and a beefy 7 mm thick blade.
The knife is about 13″ / 33 cm overall, the blade is about 8″ / 20.3 cm. The blade is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Stag scales are excellent; no chips or cracks. The handle is solid; all parts are tight with no a play. Original MADE IN GERMANY leather sheath; the belt hanger is pretty frail (I wouldn’t attempt wear it in this condition); all original rivets and stitching are intact. . These vintage pre-1971 Western Bowies are getting harder and harder to find; it would make an excellent addition to any collection.
This attractive Vietnam War era Bills Military Stores Bowie Knife / fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original condition; these are the actual photos. I have a few more Vietnam era American knives/bayonets, as well as some British, Commonwealth, and German WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, plus several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
