WW2 Case M3 trench knife – rare straight guard type, early original leather scabbard. Rare M3 fighting knife type in great overall condition, considering the age.

Original WW2 era American M3 fighting/trench knife manufactured by Case Cutlery – rare early “straight guard/smooth handle” type in excellent condition. This M3 comes with the original early-issue leather scabbard – rare this nice and complete. This rare type is illustrated on page 44 of KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see book’s page the scan attached).

This fighting knife is about 11-1/2” / 29.2 cm overall; blued blade is about 6-3/4″ / 17.2 cm; the edge is very sharp still; the tip is intact; some minor pitting on the blade is noted for accuracy. This type has smooth stacked leather washers handle with a heavy hammer-like oval steel pommel and steel guard; all parts are tight with no play.  The guard is boldly stamped CASE on the top side.  Brown leather scabbard is great shape overall; all stitching and rivets are intact; the leather is still soft and supple. There is a small cut at the throat near the rivet, but it’s nothing major.

This rare WW2 Case M3 trench knife is in 100% serviceable condition still; this type hard to find in this nice. This important WW2 era American fighting knife would make a great addition to any collection. This attractive WW2 Case M3 trench knife and its original leather scabbard have not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; M1 clip is not is not included with the lot 😉
