American Civil War Sons Of Union Veterans badge struck circa 1881 in bronze, original intact ribbon and suspension pin; excellent overall condition, considering the age.
Struck in bronze; original bronze ring with silk ribbon and bronze pin-on suspension; scarce type. The badge is an attractive specimen with original brown patina; silk ribbon has fallen apart from age to the point where to top pin-on part has separated completely from the ribbon. Looks like the original encampment dates were July 23-24, 1934 but it’s hard to tell for sure – the ink on the ribbon has faded. Not cleaned or tempered with; these are the actual photos.
This badge is part of an old-time collection from a NJ-based gentleman which I recently purchased; I have about 20 various US badges, pins, and awards to list, some are pretty rare.
