Description

Ruana model 13A hunter-skinner knife, traditional elk stag handle, original leather sheath. Handmade the 1960th-1970th; rare type.

Excellent quality model 13A Hunter-Skinner handmade by the famous RUDY H. RUANA (1903-1986) of Boner, Montana; slightly used condition. This is a superb hunter-skinner handmade by the master himself circa 1962-1970th; (M-marked on the handle near ricasso). Ruana Knives is one of the best makers of hunting knives in the US since the early 1940th. I have a number of vintage American-made collectible knives in the store, please take a look at the store’s American Blades section.

The knife is about 7-3/4″ / 19.7 cm overall; the blade is about 4″ / 10.2 cm. High-carbon steel blade is hammer-forged, heat treated, and oil quenched to provide a superior edge for years to come; the edge is razor-sharp still, the tip is intact. Cast aluminum handle with Ruana’s traditional elk stag scales. All parts are tight with no play; the handle is stamped R.H. Ruana / Bonner / Montana / M. Original vintage “stag-n-knives” logo Ruana leather sheath with copper rivets; typical oxidation around copper rivets is noted for accuracy. The sheath is hand-signed 13A on the back; all stitching and rivets are intact; the leather is still soft and supple.

This knife is of excellent quality overall, with proper care this original vintage Ruana model 13A hunter-skinner knife will last you a lifetime; you will not be disappointed.  Please don’t forget to check out our Militaria section for other WW1 and WW2 era combat knives, including German WW1 era trench knives, vintage USAF WW2 Pilot Knives and a couple of rare WW2 “OSS Drop” knives we offer for sale.
