Remington 1998 Baby Bullet trapper, damascus blades, mother of pearl handle scales. Rare limited edition model R1173-D in unused minty condition, still in original presentation box.

Excellent quality US-made limited edition model R1173-D “Baby Bullet” Trapper with genuine mother-of-pearl handle scales, sterling silver “bullet” inlay, damascus blades, and polished/serial-engraved nickel-silver bolsters in rare unused condition, still in the original “eagle chest” presentation box. This is a limited run commemorative issue of the original Remington-UMC “bullet knife”; the run for limited to just a few hundred serial-numbered knives manufactured circa 1998 in the US. Originally, Remington was to produce 1000 damascus/mother-of-pearl Baby Bullet trappers. Remington was to supply the US-made damascus steel blades and quality mother of pearl slabs for the handles; Camillus was contracted to do the rest of the manufacturing at their upstate New York plant. In reality, less that 500 of these beautiful knives were made as Remington simply could not procure enough of mother-of-pearl material of adequate thickness and quality. I guess no-one had realized that it takes many-many years for a mollusk go grow a shell of the right size and thickness. Finding a quantity of large, thick shells was and always will be a challenge.

This specimen has generous mother-of-pearl handle scales with sterling silver Remington “bullet” inlay on one side. The knife’s clip-point and spey-point blades are 100-layer damascus steel (non-stainless). Each blade is stamped with the Remington logo on one side; the clip-point blade is date-stamped 1998 on the another.  The liners are brass; bolsters are polished nickel-silver with the serial number 436 engraved on one side; nickel-silver tube lanyard is expertly fitted to match handle scales. This little beauty is about 3-5/8″ / 9.2 cm closed; each blade is about 2-3/4″ / 7 cm long; original factory edges are razor-sharp; the tips are intact.  Original “eagle chest” presentation box is made of ceramic, stained to the “old bone” tone. The box is in excellent overall condition; a couple of tiny chips on the lid are noted for accuracy. This rare Remington 1998 Baby Bullet trapper damascus folder is in absolute mint condition; it would make an excellent addition to any collection.

This limited edition Remington 1998 Baby Bullet trapper damascus blade folder with mother of pearl handle scales has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. I have a few more modern US-made knives, as well as several vintage WW2 era American blades (inducing an original WW2 era Rudy Ruana fighting knife), Allied WW2 era combat knives, bayonets, and scarce WW1 / WW2 fighting daggers/trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section.
