Queen City WW2 fighting knife, original leather scabbard; excellent overall condition, considering the age – rare this nice.

Original WW2 era American fighting knife manufactured by Queen City Cutlery. This so-called “private purchase” type was very popular with the troops and thousands were carried and used as intended by GIs during the war. This exact type is illustrated on page 203 of the KNIVES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY WORLD WAR II book by Michael W Silvey – a well-established expert and author of many books on the subject of US military edged weapons (see page’s scan attached). This is not a particularly scarce WW2 fighting knife, but this type is VERY rare this nice – those leather washers and iron fittings did not fare well in the typical field conditions, especially when exposed to saltwater. Most of these “Queen City” private purchase fighter are in pretty sorry state; this type is getting harder to find in decent grades.

The knife is about 10-1/2″” / 26.5 cm overall; “bright finish” clip-point blade is about 6″ /15.4 cm long. The edge has been gently re-sharpened; it is very razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Stacked leather washers handle with curved iron guard and flat hammer-like pommel. The handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. Original leather  scabbard is in excellent shape. The keeper is nice and tight, all original rivets and stitching are intact; the leather is soft and supple still.

This original Queen City WW2 fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, it’s in 100% original “as is” condition. These are the actual photos; spent brass is not included with the lot 😉 I have a few more vintage American-made knives, as well as WW2 era combat knives and bayonets, scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives from other countries available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
