Extremely hard to find presentation grade huge “MY COUNTRY MY STEEL ITS PROTECTION” Bowie that was part of the short-run 1982-1983 limited edition issue by Parker Cutlery Co. (Parker used this name from 1979 to 1983). The Bowie is in unused condition and it comes with even more scarce original leather sheath. These large high-quality replicas of the famous Civil War era Bowie knives were manufactured in the early ’80s in Japan, using modern tools and high quality materials. Hand-finished by the Japanese craftsmen, each type was limited to just 1000 serial-numbered knives – a great find! Each of these Parker “presentation grade” stainless steel blade Bowies are listed at over $700 in the Pocket Knife Trader’s Guide and double of that for the damascus blade option; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
This Bowie is a fantastic piece of work – large clip point blade is beautifully etched MY COUNTRY MY STEEL ITS PROTECTION; serial number 148 is engraved at the base. Ricasso is stamped PARKER CUT. CO. / HAND MADE on one side and SURGICAL STEEL / MADE IN JAPAN on the other. Full-tang construction of an excellent overall quality; this Bowie is about 11″ / 28 cm overall; razor-sharp satin-polished blade is about 6-1/4” / 16 cm. Cast German silver LIBERTY AND UNION bolsters and pommel handle with burnt and polished bone “stag” pattern handle scales. The handle is solid; all parts are tight. This Bowie comes with mega-rare original-issue brown leather sheath stamped JAPAN on the back; the leather is soft and supple; the stitching is intact.
