Description

Marbles 2001 Model 58 Outdoor knives, original 1930th manufacture blades, exotic tigerwood handles. Mint NIB w orig A.G. Russell Knives customer invoice.

A pair of hard-to-find Marble’s limited run of the short-lived Model 58 Outdoor hunting knives with rare original 1930th manufacture blades and exotic tigerwood handles. Marble’s company was one of the best US makers of hunting knives, axes and other outdoor gear since 1898. The original Model 58 Outdoor model was a cheap Depression-era hunter/utility knife made for a budget-minded customer.  The knife was inexpensive but not very durable; Marble’s stopped selling Model 58 circa 1942.

In about 2000 Marble’s found 600 original 1936 model 58 blades stored in oil-soaked boxes; they proceeded to make 300 sets of this rare model using original 1930th blades and exotic tigerwood for the handles. This limited edition issue was purchased in 2001 through A.G. Russell Knives The Cutting Edge knife collector’s catalog (Russell catalog item #MA-M58). The set includes 2 knives with the exact types of handles available in the 1930th, the original customer invoice, blade protectors, and the correctly-labeled Marble’s “bobcat” retail box. These knives was assembled circa 2000 in Gladstone, Michigan, USA; these are NOT modern replicas – the blades are original 1930th era; only 300 sets were completed in total. Attached see the original Marble’s ad from their 2000 sales brochure.

The knives are about 8-3/4″ / 22.2 cm and 8-1/2 / 21.6 cm overall; satin-polished blades are about 4-1/2″ / 11.5 cm long; vintage 3-line “rollercoaster” logo on ricasso; the knives are in original “as-made” minty condition . Polished exotic tigerwood handle with 3 brass pins; all parts are tight. The blades are RAZOR-sharp; tips are intact. These knives were sold without a sheath. Don’t miss your chance to add these original Marbles 2001 Model 58 Outdoor knives type to your collection!

Please don’t forget to check out my store’s Militaria section for other WW1 and WW2 era combat knives, including German WW1 era trench knives, vintage USAF WW2 Pilot Knives and one very rare WW2 era Middle-Eastern Commando fighting knife I offer for sale.
