Marbles 1999 limited edition CARVER Hunter-Skinner with select-quality sambar stag handle, Woodcraft blade. Minty unused with original leather sheath; rare NIB; made in USA.
Excellent quality limited edition solid sambar stag handle CARVER model Hunter-Skinner; the knife was part of the Marble’s Collectors Club member collection assembled over 20 years ago. Carver is a an interesting model – it was never intended to be mass-produced since each handle was hand-picked from the best India stag material available and manually fitted to a larger Woodcraft blade for absolutely the finest grip and the best visual quality. This type was made as a special order placed directly through Marble’s Premium Program or Marble’s Knife Collectors Club – a great find! Expertly fitted and hand-finished in 1999 at the Marble’s factory in Gladstone, Michigan, USA. Marble’s Knives was one of the best US makers of hunting knives, axes and other outdoor gear since 1898; the Woodcraft model was the best Skinner available when it first came out in 1914. Since then Woodcraft design was copied under different names by various companies countless times all over the world.
The knife is about 9″ / 23 cm overall; satin-polished blade is about 4-7/8″ / 12.5 cm long; the 2-line Marble’s / Gladstone, MI U.S.A. logo is laser-etched on ricasso. The blade’s original convex edge is RAZOR sharp; the tip is intact. Genuine stag handle with leather washers and colored fiber-and-brass spacers on the ends; polished brass guard. The handle is tight; all parts are solid with no play. This knife is in as-issued mint condition, complete with the original light-brown Marble’s leather sheath (also in mint condition), paper blade protector, and original correctly-labeled “bobcat” retail box. These last US-made Carvers are hard to find in mint condition these days, especially with the original retail packaging included. Don’t miss your chance to add this original US-made special-order Marbles 1999 limited edition Carver knife to your collection!
