Huge vintage John Nelson Cooper custom Fighting Bowie knife; hand-made in the 1960th, classic “C-guard”, brown micarta/bronze fittings handle. UNUSED CONDITION
Rare vintage “C-guard” Fighting Bowie knife handmade by John Nelson Cooper in the 1960th – early 1970th. John N. Cooper (1906-1987) was the founding member of the American Knifemakers’ Guild and one of the greatest American knife makers of all time; his early custom knives are especially hard to find. This is a huge Fighter – about 13-3/4″ / 35 cm overall; made in the classic vintage John Cooper style with the classic “Cooper eagle” on the blade. The handle is Cooper’s favorite brown micata with brazed bronze C-guard and bronze pommel/spacer. Nice original honey-golden patina on the bronze; metal surfaces have not been cleaned and/or re-polished.
Blade’s original edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. A full-figured handle is well-fitted and provides a very comfortable grip and adds balance to this large knife; all parts are solid with zero play. The knife is about 13-3/4″ / 35 cm overall; the blade is about 8-3/4″ / 22.3 cm. There is no sheath. Very interesting and certainly one-of-the kind and rare John Nelson Cooper custom Fighting Bowie knife; this vintage Bowie will make a great addition to any collection.
