US-made Imperial M7S fighting survival knife, Vietnam War era PWH M8A1 scabbard. Both are unused; excellent overall condition.
A well-made all-in-one M-7S utility/fighting knife manufactured by Imperial Cutlery in Providence, Rhode Island. Some sources list M-7S as “Engineers Knife” issued in the closing days of the US involvement in the Vietnam War. Most agree that the knife came in too late to be actually used in the field. So Imperial mostly sold the knife in the civilian market as the “ultimate survival knife” with a new multi-pocket sheath full of hooks, sinks, lines, matches, and other survival gear. In any event, the blades used for the M-7S production were the same blades used to manufacture the M7 bayonet for the US military. Imperial just added a saw to the spine (mostly useless feature) and a partially serrated “false edge”; the mil-spec parkerized finish also remained the same.
This specimen is in rare unused / unissued condition with original parkerized finish and factory edge. The heavy-duty hammer-like pommel/nail puller and the guard (designed to be used a screwdriver) are also parkerized; all parts are tight with no play. The knife is about 11-7/8″ / 30.2 cm overall; the blade is about 6-1/2″ / 16.5 cm long; original edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. Ricasso is marked IMPERIAL / MADE IN USA M-7S. Black plastic handle grips are excellent with no cracks or chips. Original and also unused M8A1 composition scabbard was made by Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind (PWH) in the late 1960th-early 1970th. The unpainted “gun-gray” steel throat is stamped USM8A1 / PWH on the front side; web hanger is excellent with no stains, mold, or rust; OD-green leg tie is still attached. All scabbard parts are nice and tight with no play.
This original Imperial M7S fighting survival knife and PWH M8A1 composition scabbard are in excellent overall condition and are 100% serviceable still. Not cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original “as is” condition. I have a few more Vietnam War fighting knives and bayonets, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 American and European fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
