Germany WW2 signal flare Bakelite storage canister 6-round container. Original WW-II issue dated May 1941, green star label; great overall condition.
Original WW2 era German six-round signal flare container made of black Bakelite with one (1) original German aluminum alloy 1941-dated spent flare cartridge included. This listing is for one (1) “green-star” canister; I have a nearly-identical canister labeled “red star” as well – check out similar listings on my site. This canister is in excellent overall condition, the screw-on lid still has an original manufacturer’s label indicating “green star” 6 round content. The label reads 6 Sternsignalpatronen (6 Signal flare rounds), « Rate 46 (batch 42), Untersucht Mai 1941 (Examined May 1941), and the flare manufacturers 3-letter code dag, indicating the flares were manufactured by Orion Metallwarenfabrik. This canister will fit a more modern 26.5 mm flare round just as fine (modern flares are not included with the canister).
This specimen is in excellent overall condition – no cracks or chips; all original parts; the spent flare casing apparently has split aside upon firing – see photos. Some minor surface dirt and dust on the canister from long storage is noted for accuracy. All parts are tight with no play; nice problem-free original WW2 era specimen with fully-intact early-war label – rare as such.
