Description

Germany Karl Goetz 1941 K589 medal hub for Max & Gertraud Schroder wedding metallic issue. Original and unique WW2 era master die by the famous engraver, guaranteed to be 100% authentic.

Original K-589 medal steel master hub engraved by Karl Goetz. The little-known WW2 era medal was struck in 1941 for a joyful occasion of Max and Gertraud Schroder wedding (Kienast reference 589). This medal had a special place in Karl Goetz’s heart – his daughter was a flower girl at that wedding. The little girl engraved on this hub is an actual image of Karl’s own daughter.

The hub is cut from a solid chunk high-carbon steel; the side is painted 589/4 in white paint; no other markings are present. The original art studio Goetz worked in most of his life in Munich was bombed by the allies towards the end of the war destroying some and badly damaging the rest of his work. Almost all of his original medal dies show rust and corrosion from exposure to the elements. This specimen has some light potting on the face of the hub but nothing severe; some light surface rust spot here and there are noted for accuracy.

Karl Goetz was born in Augsburg, Germany and studied in Leipzig, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Utrecht, Le Locle (Switzerland), and in Paris. With the start of WW1 Karl Goetz became an artist known around the world for his 1914-1923 satirical medals. Overall, Goetz created about 180 satirical medals and close to 800 medals overall; all are very collectible and highly prized today. He also designed a series of pattern coins, tokens, and medals for the German Empire, the Weimar Republic, and the Third Reich Germany. Karl Goetz survived WW2 and died in his native Munich in 1950.

This rare original Germany Karl Goetz 1941 K589 medal hub is not a later reproduction or a copy; it is guaranteed to be 100% authentic or your money back. Not cleaned; these are the actual photos. A rare original medal hub hand-engraved by the famous German medalist – don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
