Original circa 1880-1900 early Prussian Gymnasts Society organization silver medal with Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1778-1852) on obverse; hard to find type these days. Friedrich Ludwig Jahn was an early promoter of the modern-day gymnastics on bars and rings and was the head of the popular sports school. Original ring loop is intact; nice light-gray patina throughout. The medal weights about 12 grams, the “rectangle” is about 31.5 mm wide from side to side; the medal is about 47.5 mm from the top loop to the bottom corner.
