Gerber USA Bowie Utility knife made in early 1990th; huge US-made hunting/camp knife with large 9.5-in blade, coffin handle and original Bianchi cordura sheath. Scarce type in rare UNUSED condition.
Vintage GERBER LEGENDARY BLADES huge model 5978 Bowie Utility hunting/camp bowie knife made in the mid 1980th-early 1990th in Portland, Oregon, USA. This long-discontinued hunting Bowie is in rare unused condition; complete with the original high-quality cordura sheath which was made by Bianchi. The blade has not been re-sharpened, the edge is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact; no contact marks on the spine. This big boy is about 14-3/4″ / 37.5 cm overall; massive bead-blasted blade is about 9-1/2” / 24.2 cm. Rubberized coffin-shaped handle with a lanyard hole and a solid brass double-guard is in excellent condition; all parts are tight with no play. The original black cordura sheath with a military-style belt hanger is unused as well; the keeper, original stitching and rivets are all intact. The sheath is in excellent overall condition; this type is rare this nice.
Gerber has always made solid, high-quality fixed-blade knives back in the days; with proper care this old timer will last you another 40 years 😉 This 1980th Gerber USA Bowie Utility knife type is getting harder and harder to find these days; don’t miss your chance to add it to your collection!
