GERBER C425 Custom Stag Hunter with genuine sambar handle and original sheath; manufactured in the 1970th; hard to find discontinued model. Rare UNUSED condition.
Rare vintage Gerber Legendary Blades model C425 Custom Stag Hunter with exotic India sambar stag handle and original sheath in rare unused condition. oModel C425 been long-discontinued; it’s very hard to find in any shape or form nowadays. The knife was hand-finished at the Gerber factory in Portland, Oregon in the 1970th.
The knife is about 8-7/8″ / 22.5 cm overall; the blade is about 4-1/4″ / 10.8 cm long. The blade is mirror-polished “high-speed” high-carbon S59 tool-grade stainless steel. Gerber used a super hard, high-speed tool steel with a Rockwell hardness of Rc 60-62 for these customs. The blade went through a special industrial chrome plating process to keep the tool steel from pitting and tarnishing; this blade is tough enough for almost any task in the field. The blade has not been re-sharpened; original factory edge is razor-sharp, the tip is intact. The handle is a generous piece of polished sambar stag with the bronze guard. The handle is solid; all parts are tight with no play. A few discoloration spots on the bronze from the contact with the leather are noted for accuracy. Original Gerber MODEL C425-marked leather sheath is also unused; the leather is soft and supple. This hard to find vintage GERBER C425 Custom Stag Hunter-Skinner knife and original sheath set will be a welcome addition to any collection.
