GERBER 1986 MARK II fighting knife 20-yr Vietnam War commemorative dagger. Only 5000 made; mint with original sheath, COA, papers, and retail box – rare this nice and complete.
A classic GERBER LEGENDARY BLADES Mark II fighting dagger made in 1986 in Portland, Oregon, USA. This is a commemorative “20-years of service anniversary” 1986 issue which was limited to 5,000 serial-numbered daggers. This specimen is serial-number 1417; original serial-matching retail box and COA are included. Gerber’s 1986 run was manufactured to the original early Vietnam War era Mark II specs: the wasp-waist blade has a 5-degree slant, the handle’s finish is the original non-slip “cat’s tongue” finish. The original Mark II was a slim, practical, and very effective fighting tool; the 1986 edition is as close as you can get to the 1960thh “real deal”. More information about legendary Gerber Mark II fighting knives could be found on this dedicated Wikipedia page.
This Mark II is in absolute mint condition; the original factory edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. The dagger is about 11-3/4″ / 30 cm overall; the narrow “wasp waist” dual-edged blade is about 6-3/4” / 17.2 cm. Serial number XX1417 is sharply struck on one side of ricasso; Gerber’s sword logo is on the other. The original leather scabbard is in mint condition as well; it’s still in the original unopened poly bag. The box is in great overall condition; one minor dent/paper rip in the top lid is noted for accuracy. Very rare one of a kind Vietnam War era Gerber 1969 MARK II Fighting Knife; it will make an excellent addition to any collection of military blades.
