Case Tested XX knife-hatchet set 1920th-1940th hunting-camping ax, jigged bone handle scales, original leather sheath – unused condition. VERY rare this nice and complete.
VERY rare pre-WW2 W.R Case & Sons Cutlery “CASE’S TESTED XX” knife-hatchet hunting combo set in mega-rare unused condition. Original jigged bone handle scales, integrated blade lock/ruler and original CASE XX combo leather sheath; this hunting set was hand-finished circa 1920-1940 at the W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery factory in Bradford, PA, USA. The knife’s is about 9-1/8″ / 23.2 cm overall; the blade in locked position is about 4-3/4″ / 12 cm. The hatchet and knife’s blade have not been re-sharpened; original factory edges are razor-sharp. The kife’s ricasso is marked with the “long C tail” CASE TESTED XX stamp. The hatchet is stamped CASE XX USA on one side. Mirror-polished blades; German silver bolsters and jigged bone scales handle; all parts are solid with no play. Handle scales are near-perfect; a couple of typical microcracks near pins from aging are noted for accuracy. The blades sit very tight when secured; no wobble whatsoever. The original light-brown leather sheath is also unused. The leather is soft and supple; all original rivets and stitching are intact; the sheath is in excellent overall condition, considering the age.
These early Case Tested XX knife-hatchet sets are nearly impossible to find in mint condition; this type is a must-have for any serious Case collector. This knife will be a welcome addition to any collection and will make a great gift this holiday season 😉
I recently purchased several Case XX knives from a family of a long-time knife collector. I addition to vintage Case XX knives I have several other vintage American blades, as well as WW2 era fighting daggers and WW1 trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section. This rare CASE Tested XX CODY hunting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, 100% original condition; these are the actual photos.
