Vintage Browning Japan Ichiro Hattori 3816 Damascus Hunter knife hand-made circa 1984. Model 3816, SN 0169; 1 of 1000 ever made; original wood presentation case and COA included. VERY rare this nice and complete.
Scarce vintage Damascus Hunter knife hand-made by the famous Ichiro Hattori circa 1983-1984 in Seki, Japan for the Browning Arms Company. In the early 1980th Browning contracted with Ichiro Hattori to produce a limited number of presentation grade fixed blade “double-edged Damascus hunters” with Damascus blades that were also rust-resistant. In response, Hattori created a stainless and nickel-silver 200-layer Damascus pattern that was as beautiful as it was practical. The new series was limited to 1000 serial-numbered knives in handsome wood presentation cases. The original 1984 issue price was $350 – a ton of money in the early 1980th!
This rare Hunter is unused and still in its original presentation case. One of the first knives made, this specimen is serial-numbered 0169 – the number is engraved on the guard. The knife is about 7-5/8″ / 19.3 cm overall; the blade is about 3-5/8″ / 9.2 cm. The blade (including the “false” upper edge) is SUPER sharp; the needle-like tip is intact. Exotic red mahogany wood handle with black fiber and nickel spacers; the guard and pommel are made of silver-nickel alloy. Original COA printed on the traditional rice paper is included.
This is one of the best and most handsome small Hunters Ichiro Hattori ever made; it’s an absolute beauty. This type was sold without the sheath. Original Browning redwood presentation case is nice and tight; a few minor scuff marks on the bottom side are noted for accuracy. All Hattori knives are of absolutely the highest quality; don’t miss your chance to add this rare limited edition Browning Japan Ichiro Hattori 3816 Damascus Hunter to your collection!
