Description

British Cold War era NAAFI knife (Navy, Army, Air Force Institute) scarce single-blade NATO-designated type. Made circa 1960th in Sheffield, England. Great overall condition, considering the age.

Original circa 1950th – 1960th Sheffield-made military utility folder in great overall condition. This type was originally developed during WW2 by the British Navy, Army, Air Force Institute (NAAFI) as a compact 2-blade utility knife for all branches of military service.  Post-war examples were manufactured with two, or (less commonly) with just a single blade. A similar type is shown as “plate 336” illustration on page 144 of the excellent reference book BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH MILITARY KNIVES by Ron Flook (see the book’s scan attached).

The knife is about 3-5/8″ / 9.2 cm overall closed; the blade is about 2-5/8″ / 6.7 cm long. The blade has been very lightly re-sharpened; the tip is intact. The tang is stamped MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND and with number 11 – the nomenclature code for the NATO issue. Black plastic handle scales and steel pins. The blade’s spring is nice and tight; the blade opens and closes with a sharp snap. All parts are solid; the blade is tight with no play. This British Cold War era NAAFI knife is in great overall condition; you will not be disappointed!

This British Cold War era NAAFI knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way, the set is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. I have a few vintage Sheffield-made knives, as well as WW2 era British combat knives and bayonets, scarce American and German WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in the store’s Militaria section. Argocoins accepts all major credit cards and payments via PayPal as forms of payment.
