Description

American WW2 theater fighting dagger bronze-etched EH MECHIE on ricasso. One-of a kind fighting knife, original hand-made leather scabbard included; great overall condition, considering the age.

Original WW2 era American fighting dagger probably made from a bayonet blade and whatever else was available at hand. The overall quality is actually pretty high; the fit and balance are great; this is one hell of a practical sidearm. The double-guard was cut from a piece of brass and brazed to the steel blade; solid cast aluminum  handle has been expertly fitted to the dagger. Ricasso has the GI’s name E.H. MECHIE struck with letter punches and filled with brass on both sides – not a small feat in the rudimentary field conditions.

This interesting fighting dagger is about 10-5/8″ / 27 cm overall; the dual-edge blade is about 6-5/8″ / 16.8 cm; the blade is very sharp still; the tip is intact. Solid cast aluminum handle with brass double-guard; all parts are tight with no play. Original highly decorated hand-made leather scabbard is in great shape, considering the age. All original stitching is intact; the cuts at the throat from pulling out the blade too fast are noted for accuracy.

This interesting and certainly one-of-a kind American WW2 theater fighting dagger has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original “as is” condition; these are the actual photos. I have more WW2 American fighting knives, as well as several scarce WW1 and WW2 fighting daggers, bayonets and trench knives available for sale – please take a look in our Militaria section.
