AG Russell 1977 Sting boot knife 8″ overall, exotic cocobolo wood handle, original leather sheath included. Scarce “large” type in rare UNUSED condition; made in Solingen, Germany.
A classic early A.G. Russell “large” type Sting model boot knife in rare unused condition; made in 1976-1977 for AG Russell Knives in Solingen, Germany. The larger, 3-3/4″ blade Stings are especially hard to find in unused condition as most of these handy and practical boot knives were used as intended. At the time the production facility in Solingen was the only place equipped to make a relatively large quantity of high-end and extremely labor-intensive Sting daggers. The entire knife was made from a single piece of forged steel, then tempered, sharpened, and mirror-polished for a perfect finish.
The dagger is in scarce unused condition; the original factory edge is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact. Minor hairlines on the mirror-polished blade are noted for accuracy. This full-tang construction dagger is about 8″ / 20.3 cm overall; the dual-edged blade is about 3-3/4” / 9.5 cm. The exotic cocobolo wood handle scales are in excellent condition – no cracks or chips. All parts are tight with no play. The original black leather sheath is also unused; stainless steel boot clip is nice and tight; it is stamped A.G. RUSSELL / SPRINGDALE / ARK.
This scarce unused “large type” AG Russell 1977 Sting boot knife / original brown leather sheath set is part of a small collection of vintage daggers I’ve recently purchased. You can check out the other daggers from this collection by clicking on the following tab: daggers.
Also, I have a small but very interesting collection of various edged WW1 and WW2 era weapons available for sale. Don’t forget to check out our Militaria section for other WW1 and WW2 era combat knives, including German WW1 era trench knives, vintage USAF WW2 Pilot Knives and a couple of rare WW2 “OSS Drop” knives we offer for sale.
