AG Russell 1977 Sting boot knife gold leaf blade etching SN 44 – only 200 made. White micarta handle, original “boot clip” leather sheath. UNUSED; made in Solingen, Germany; rare type.
A very limited “gold oak leaves” edition of the classic early A.G. Russell Sting model boot knife made in 1976-1977 for AG Russell Knives in Solingen, Germany. At the time the production facility in Solingen was the only place equipped to make a relatively large quantity of high-end and extremely labor-intensive Sting daggers. The entire knife was made from a single piece of forged steel, then tempered, sharpened, and mirror-polished for a perfect finish. This scarce “gold oak leaves” run was limited to just 200 serial-numbered daggers. This specimen’s serial number 44 is engraved or ricasso.
The dagger is in rare unused condition; the original factory edge is razor-sharp; the tip is intact. some of the gold fill on the leaves etching had faded; minor hairlines on the mirror-polished blade are noted for accuracy. This full-tang construction dagger is about 6-5/8″ / 16.8 cm overall; the dual-edged blade is about 3-1/4” / 8.3 cm. Polished white micarta handle scales and red spacers are in excellent condition – no cracks or chips. All parts are tight with no play. The original brown leather sheath is also unused; stainless steel boot clip is nice and tight; it is stamped A.G. RUSSELL / SPRINGDALE / ARK.
